At long last, I will share with you the story of Mountain Man's proposal to me!
It was simple and sweet, which is just what I wanted (I had long ago threatened him with refusal if he proposed to me in public). I think that a proposal should be a private event in a couple's life because it's so intimate.
Even though I don't think there should be any witnesses, I don't mind sharing, because proposals seem to be one of those things that everyone is naturally curious about.
"So how'd he do it?!"

The Job Interview
Let me begin by saying this:
I hate job interviews.
Really, they make me a nervous wreck, and I almost never have a feel for how well it went. This one was no different.
It happened so quickly that I had no time to prepare. Last summer, I was an interview pro by mid-June, and there are some pretty standard questions that are asked during education interviews, so I had somewhat pat answers. This time, I saw the open job, my heart stopped, I sent an email, and then I had an interview.
My heart stopped again.
You'd think I'd have some issues from all this heart stopping nonsense.

Living and Working in Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa . . . where do I begin?
When I accepted my teaching position and began telling my friends and colleagues that I would be moving to Tuscaloosa, their general response was, "Oh my gosh, you're going to love Tuscaloosa!" Friends, if you know anything about me, you probably know what I was thinking.
"Yeah, right."

Updates 2013
Good evening, Wild Woman family! It hurts my heart to think about how long I've been away from this blog, but please know it was not without good reason. I learned a lot in this last year, but I had to work very hard to do it, which left little time for the frivolities of maintaining any sort of active online presence.

Little Cabin in the Woods - Part II
Friends, I'm back!
I know I've promised you grand posts about my new apartment and my new classroom, and they're coming! Just not today. Today is all about the Little Cabin.
Last weekend, I finally made it up to Mountain Man's territory. He desperately wanted to work on the cabin, and even though that wasn't what I had in mind for the weekend, I made a promise to him to help, and help I did!
Before we get into the picture part of this post, Mountain Man asked that I include some sort of disclaimer about the state of the inside of the cabin. He's a little embarrassed, but seeing as it's not his fault, I don't think he has any reason to be. DISCLAIMER: WHAT YOU WILL SEE BELOW IS THE DIRECT RESULT OF WILD CRITTERS, VANDALS, AND A RESTORATION/REMODEL IN PROGRESS AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED INDICATIVE OF MOUNTAIN MAN'S PREFERRED LIVING CONDITIONS.
Now, ya'll settle in, because I've got lots to tell.

On Being a Single Lady
My friends, please allow me a moment to revel in the joy that comes from living by yourself. It's just me, Tucker, and the dust mites around here, and it has been a glorious few weeks. But I'm a realist, and I know there will come a day when I will think, "WHY DID I THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO LIVE BY MYSELF?! I'M SO LONELY AND BORED!" So in the almost inevitable event that occurs, here is a list of things I enjoy about living alone to remind me when I'm in tears because the dog didn't appreciate the exquisite boeuf bourguignon I made.

Getting Settled
I haven't posted in awhile, and I wanted to take a minute to give everyone a quick update on what's been going on.
Last week, my family and all my available muscular-male-types helped me move from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa. It was a whirlwind of a week. I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond (where I've worked part-time for about 3 years) all day Monday and Tuesday, and I tried to pack as much stuff as possible out of the room I'd rented from a coworker all summer. Mountain Man came down Tuesday evening and we crammed everything except a few pieces of furniture into my car and his. You should have seen his face when I told him I wanted to put all the clothes from my closet into his little Mitsubishi Eclipse. I am ALL girl when it comes to the amount of clothes and shoes I own.
Without overwhelming you with too much detail, let me tell you just how busy the rest of the week was.
